Vehicle Replacement

Bluecycle manage New and Used Vehicle Replacement on behalf of Aviva customers, who have experienced a total loss. Here is how it works:

New Vehicle Replacement

If a customer's vehicle meets the policy eligibility criteria, then the customer is entitled to a new like for like replacement vehicle. The policy eligibility generally covers the following:

  • Vehicle is under a defined age limit (12 months for cars, 6 months for bikes and light commercial vehicles)
  • The customer (or partner) is the first registered keeper of the vehicle, or the vehicle has been pre-registered to the manufacturer or supplying dealer, with the customer (or partner) being the second registered keeper; as long as the mileage does not exceed 250 miles at the time of purchase.
Please refer to the policy wording to see if a vehicle is eligible for replacement.

This process covers cars, motorbikes and light commercial vehicles (others upon request).

Follow the [link] to send all the details over to our specialist supplier (Replacement Vehicles Ltd) and they will:

  • Attempt initial customer contact within 24 hours of receiving the replacement request
  • Confirm with the insured and supplying dealer the exact specification of the original vehicle (Replacement Vehicles Ltd will obtain a copy of the purchase invoice from either the insured or supplying dealer. If you have a copy of the purchase invoice, please fax it to 08448 227 803).
  • Liaise with the finance company (if applicable) to acquire authorisation for a like for like replacement
  • Source a like for like replacement, or discuss alternative replacement options with the customer
  • Liaise with the finance company if a like for like vehicle is unavailable
  • Order a vehicle once written acceptance has been received from the customer
  • Keep the customer updated with the progress of the replacement vehicle
  • Arrange delivery and invoice Aviva, via bluecycle
  • Arrange the transfer of finance (if applicable)
  • Replacement Vehicles Ltd will refer back to claims where the customer cannot be satisfied, for a cash settlement at market value

Used Car Replacement

Bluecycle also manage a service to replace customer's cars if they do not fit the criteria for New Vehicle Replacement. This process covers cars and light commercial vehicles, but not motorbikes.

This is a value added service. Customer's still receive a cash settlement, but can use that to source a vehicle via our specialist provider. They can upgrade or downgrade as necessary. Any customer with a settlement value of £2,500.00 or over (or who expresses a desire to upgrade their vehicle, if the PAV settlement is lower than this) is eligible.

Used Car Replacement leads are generated by Motor Engineers and e-mailed to nucars@bluecycle.com. Replacement Vehicles Ltd then sort these leads based on PAV and vehicle age:

  • For leads that are over £2,500.00 PAV and less than 5 years old, Replacement Vehicles Ltd use manufacturer discounts that have been negotiated on behalf of Aviva/bluecycle to help the customer source a brand new vehicle, or a used vehicle from approved suppliers
  • Those customers with a PAV of less than £2,500.00 and whose vehicle was more than 5 years old , can take advantage of a sourcing service provided by a network of top regional suppliers
